Traffic Lights at 7

Well, if you are a resident of Bangalore, added to that, you are staying in Koramangala, you will know I am talking about the traffic lights near the sony junction at 7. It is not 7 in the evening but the early morning when the corporate guys are on their heels to go to office. Everything looks fine till the time, guys are waiting for their office shuttles. Once they board the shuttles and reach that particular signal, they get to see the worst nightmares in the early day time. Its nothing like, the traffic lights doesn’t work. They work fine but there is something wrong with the people (especially the ones who are driving autos and big buses).

Everybody (except the people who have a green light in their favour) are turning the gears of their vehicles. Even the people on bicycles at that time, get the opportunity to show their heroic skills. The section which can be easily crossed in a 2-3 minutes of time, takes around 20 minutes to cross.

Once in 3 days, I always get a chance to see, sorry experience, a deadlock. And the day I take my car, I have to feel nothing but sorry for myself. Something has to be done.

Initiative starts from an individual. It is true both in case of positive and negative things.

I have started doing a positive thing, even if it is small, but I fell good somewhere inside. If I am on a car and waiting for the lights to turn green, I make it a point that I will not be moving my vehicle at any cost unless the lights actually turns green. The auto wallas, bus driver keep honking, telling me to move my car. But I simply turn the window up and enjoy my music( thanks to power windows, it takes not even 10 seconds to pull the windows up).  People honk for sometime and then they become silent.

Now about the corporate shuttles, I have a thought about the same, it will take some effort from the corporate guys travelling in the shuttles but I feel that it will be successful. The idea is to simply make the drivers realize, as soon as they commit a mistake. Once, twice, thrice…… someday they will feel that they were doing it wrong.

Chow….
